About

Artist in Residence Program

The 2012 Artist in Residence program is a joint venture of the Chelsea District Library and the River Gallery.

Each year, an artist is selected by representatives of the partner organizations on the basis of their merits and their ability to bring interesting and engaging programming to the community.  The Artist in Residence enriches the local arts scene by his or her presence and offers workshops and other programming events. The primary objective is to produce interactive programming, but other innovative and interdisciplinary events are also encouraged.

Guidelines for Selection of Artist-in-Residence

  • Experience and accomplishment in the field
  • Instruction experience
  • Community outreach skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Public speaking skills
  • Ability to interact with all ages
  • Available to committ to a one-year term

The 2012 Artist in Residence is supported in part by an award from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs and the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Artist in Residence program in 2009-2011 was made possible with a generous grant from the Chelsea Community Foundation.
