Sharad Kant Patel made movies as a child in Houston with an old super-8 camera with subjects ranging from play-dough stop motion to horror movie homages.

After graduating from The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Radio-Television-Film, he began a career of applying his skills to commercial and promotional production while simultaneously continuing his independent filmmaking as a means of creative personal expression.

Some of his educational animations are on permanent display at the Houston Museum of Science, and other prize-winning shorts have screened at SXSW Film Festival, Aurora Picture Show, Houston International Film Festival and Beverly Hills Hi-Def Film Festival. A Houston artist video compilation “Video Buffet” included his work in their premiere DVD. At this time, based in Ann Arbor, he is in post production on his first feature length film “Christian Roane” which he wrote, directed, and edited.

With additional skills in illustration, graphic design, and music production, he enjoys crafting a piece through the entire production process. He enjoys exploring the idea of personal expression in filmmaking through his complete “do-it-yourself” approach.

But that’s not to say that he only works alone. He has also served in various roles for external projects and loves the process of collaboration. Most lately, he assisted a group of talented high school filmmakers with their feature film, “Bindlestiffs” that was accepted to screen in competition at 2012 Slamdance.
